I found the food very enjoyable and the concept gets you in and out quick. Prices were very descent.

I have been eating here several times a month for over a year now and I LOVE it! The food is fresh, flavorful and the price is right. If they ever mess up our order they are good to make it up to us. The queso is so good and authentic mexican not velveta in that! The churros are amazing, and the grilled fish tacos are my favorite. The green salsa is great, and the chips and tortillas are made fresh daily. This is not Texmex and is what authentic mexican food really is. You will not find fajitas or enchillada's here only real mexican which is soooo much better! 5 stars to one of my top 2 favorite McKinney restaurants!

My friends and I love Petra's and we try to go once a month. We were sad to hear that they closed their Frisco location but we are very happy they are still in McKinney. LOVE the Tacos al Pastor, really great queso, and table side gaucamole. You also can't beat the price. Give them a try!

Love this place !! Favorite dish is the Fish Tacos. Like the free chips and salsa while we re waiting for our food. We usually have some left to eat with our meal because they are fast !!

Always clean and the staff/service has always been really good. The food is awesome - all of it. I have not been disappointed with anything we have ever ordered. The tacos plates are fresh, loaded, and delicious. Everything is spiced well with lots of flavor.

Their Queso is the best in town - you don't get a lot of it but it is really good. Their green and red sauces served with chips are also fresh and very flavorful (red is quite spicey and green is much sweeter - both delicious).

We made the mistake (if you can call it that) of getting 'ritas and also the desert churos. Now we have to have both everytime (drinks for us and churos for the kids).

Really, this is the best and freshest true Mexican in town.

Petra Essence of Mexico was a great find. You have to poke around a little to locate it, but it's worth the search. East of 75 on Eldorado, tucked back in a new shopping center, it is still a relatively new restaurant.

You order at the front and the food is delivered to your table. They do a good job of bringing extras that you need.

I had the Chicken Guajillo. Plenty spicy but full of flavor.

The green sauce they provide with the free tortilla chips is something to rave about. It has a smoky flavor with just the right peppers and flavor. We bought a quart of it and took it home.

Give them a try. You'll go back again. And again.
