Good food but not great

So-so Italian food. The place looks nice but don't let that fool you on the food. Being a restaurant, it's the food that is important. I had a R1 Chophouse pizza, it was average at best, no wow factor at all. The others who joined me had Clams, rated above average but a little chewy. Said they would order it again. The Caesar Salad was great but if that is the best you can say for a restaurant, "che non e una buona",that is not good. I will visit Sauce again to try the dinner menu.

Not Italian cuisine

Visiting my fiancé family in North Texas, searched to find an Italian restaurant to invite my in-laws for dinner. I pick Sauce based on all the stars, what a mistake to call a place Italian just based on serving pizza, and pasta. The food did not resemble Italian food. The owner walking around in suite and tie reminded me of my old uncle in Sicily going to a funeral. Just putting a portrait of Sophia Loren will not make a restaurant Italian. The food was equaling to any chain pizza place. I give them one star for Sophia Loren picture.

Simple, Fresh and Tasty

This is a very nice addition to Downtown Mckinney.
I would call atmosphere and decor contemporay Italian - very pleasant! If you are looking for the typical Mckinney Italian restaurant - this is not it.
The menu is not extensive but that doesn't matter to me as long as the food is good and it was!

First was the Bruschetta tomatoes appetizer. It was freshly made and hot. A good blend of all ingredients - yummy!

Next was the Caprese Salad. Very fresh ingreients - wonderful. I loved the fresh mozzerela. I cleaned my plate - need I say more?

Last the entree, Veal and Mushrooms Very simple but a perfect combination of ingredients. The veal was very tender and mushrooms gave it just the right touch. Again, I was pleased!

We will go back. Next time we will try the pizza.

As good as they say

Finally got to visit Sauce after hearing people rave about it for months. I was thinking that it couldn't be as good as everyone was saying, and it wasn't. IT WAS BETTER!!
Lets start with the Atmosphere. Fun, chic, casual, comfortable. The outside dining area looks great, and I will try to sit there next time I visit.
Then the service. We were told there would be a 45 minute wait on a Saturday night (really only about 25 minutes), so we went to the bar. As soon as we walked to the bar, a waitress took our drink order. We had drinks in less than 3 minutes. As we waited by the bar about 5 different members of the staff asked if we were OK and needed anything. Every staff member who walked by at least said hello. And they all seemed like they meant it. After we were seated, our waitress Stephanie was about perfect. On a busy Saturday night she was right on time with everything. Friendly but not overbearing.
Lastly the food. In a word PERFECT! Every dish, every ingredient was perfectly fresh and perfectly cooked. The Insalata Rustica had just the right amount of dressing with fresh tomatoes, olives, artichoke hearts, and cheese. And the Margharita pizza....heaven. The best pizza I have had since.....well I can't remember any better.
This is exactely the kind of restaurant we need in Downtown Mckinney. This is better than those expensive places in Plano, Frisco, Addison, and Dallas. I can see people driving many miles to visit Sauce.
Great job to Rick and the entire team!

With Spaghetti?

I decided that I have had too many good experiences here; so I gave them the true test of making Spaghetti! Spaghetti is such an easy dish to make and so cheap I figured if they could impress me with Spaghetti I would be sold. Well I'm sold! I ordered the small lunch size and asked for the spicy Spaghetti. It was fantastic, I am truly in love with their Spaghetti!

We've been here twice now and the food was EXCELLENT each time. My only complaint was the food wasn't served with bread....you gotta have bread with italian food!

I was there with our usual group.. We are now in search of the best food in town.. and yes service does count.. well let me just say.. Ambience, decor, food,&service, and prices, surpassed our expectations.. This will be one our favorite little hot spot from now on- Love the special touch that Rick stops by and says hello.. It's always a nice touch of good service, unlike some other eatery's on the other side of town, that I've already commented about- (Sicily's) see my comment- I love this little place- Sauce is a great place to mingle with good food and good friends.. I highly recommend-

Went there for lunch last week with 5 coworkers. It has a warm atmosphere to it and the food was soooo good! I can't wait to try everything on the menu. Yes, everything is very reasonably priced and Rick is there to greet everyone - a nice personal touch.
