Mother McKinney's Chop Suey

Not exactly 'authentic' but pretty tasty!

Serves 4

Preparation:


Brown in drippings for 20 minutes:

  • 1 1/2 lb. pork or beef, cubed

  • 1 C. sliced onions

  • 1/2 C. sliced celery

Add:

  • 1/4 C. soy sauce

  • 2 T. sugar

  • 1/2 C. water (add more water during cooking if needed)

Cook for 1 hour, covered.


Just before serving, add one can of bean sprouts or Chinese vegetables.


Serve on rice, topped with chow mein noodles.
