
Ingredients:
1 C. milk
1 stick butter or margarine
1/3 C. honey
1 tsp. salt
5 C. wheat flour
1/4 C. wheat germ
3 C. or less white flour
pkgs. dry yeast 1 tsp. honey
1 C. lukewarm water
Preparation:
Combine first 4 ingredients in sauce pan over low heat until butter melts.
Remove from heat and cool to room temp.
Add yeast and honey to water and let work without disturbing.
Next, add yeast mixture to milk mixture in large mixing bowl.
Add 5 C. wheat flour and the wheat germ and mix well.
Add as much of the white flour as needed to make a stiff dough.
Turn onto board and knead for two minutes.
Pour 1 T. oil into large bowl, add dough in a mound to bowl and cover with a towel to set.
Let rise for 2 hrs.
Turn onto board, divide in two equal loaves, knead for a minute and shape into loaf.
Put into greased pans and cover.
Let set till double in bulk.
Bake 45 minutes at 350, till hollow sounding when tapped.
