Hungarian Goulash(es)

Aunt Phyllis

The most requested birthday dinner!

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 T. vegetable oil

  • 2 lbs. beef chuck, cut in 1" cubes

  • 1 C. onion, diced

  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced

  • 3/4 C. ketchup

  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard

  • 1/4 C. plus 2 T. Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp. vinegar

  • 2-3 T. brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp. paprika

  • dash red pepper

  • salt & black pepper

  • 3 C. water

  • 2 T. flour with 1/4 C. water to thicken

Preparation:

  • Dredge beef in flour and brown in vegetable oil.

  • Add and brown onion and garlic.

  • Add remaining ingredients.

  • Thicken with 2 T. flour and 1/4 C. water.

  • Salt and pepper to taste.

  • Cover and simmer 2 1/2 hours.

  • Serve on noodles.
