Mother's Ginger Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 C. sugar

  • 1/2 C. molasses

  • 1 tsp. soda

  • 1/4 C. butter

  • 1/2 tsp. ginger

  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp. clove

  • 1/2 C. boiling water

  • 1 C. flour

  • 1 egg


Preparation:

  • Preheat oven to 325.

  • Combine first ingredients in order.

  • Add 1/2 C. boiling water.

  • Add 1 C. flour.

  • Add 1 egg last.

  • Combine well and pour into greased cake pan.

  • Bake in moderate oven till done.

  • Serve with whipped cream.
